Here is our selection of hot hatches, small sedans and coupes. The smallest has an engine of abou 1.5 litres, and the biggest has an engine of about 3.2 liters, which is about as much as you get into a high-performance front-drive hatch.
Not all of these are new to the market, either - we keep some more memorable cars on the site even if they have not been around for years.
If you are looking for exciting driving in a compact car with pretty good fuel consumption, you will find something suitable here. I particularly recommend you take a look at one of these – details in the table below – depending on your interests:
-
Ford Focus ST – great all-round hot hatch, and its faster brother, the Focus RS
-
Jaguar XF - super looking smooth supercharged V-8 with plenty of power
- MINI Cooper S – about as small as you can get with good performance
-
Renault Megane Renaultsport 250 - superb handling and plenty of power in a smart coupe body
Below are most of the interesting muscle cars that have been introduced over the past few years – some American, some European and some from Asia. There are also a few oldies.
We will be adding more regularly, and as usual we will include information about the car, the technical specification and plenty of photos.
Small muscle cars - hot hatches -
Some of these cars are very small, but if you want performance with economy, don't ignore them. Thye can be enormous fun to drive.
Most important, you can rest assured that we produce unbiased reviews of what is good about the car and what is not. Quite a few we have driven, and you can find those by just looking for 'Road Test' in the latest list of hot hatches below.
If there are other cars you would like us to write about, please let us know. Also, when you are thinking of buying a muscle car or hot hatch – or even a coupe that does not qualify as a supercar – just ask us and we will give you expert advice.
